Hi, I'm Callum Gray

I'm an aspiring automotive engineer currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at California State University, Chico. My passion for engineering began long before college—it started with a love for motorsports and the incredible machines that compete at the highest level.

I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and moved to the United States with my parents when I was three years old. Growing up, my family and I spent countless weekends attending car shows, motorsport events, and races. One experience that has stayed with me was attending the 2013 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Watching the world's best engineers and drivers compete at the highest level of motorsport sparked something in me. It was there that I realized I didn't just want to admire race cars—I wanted to help design them.

Today, I am pursuing that dream as a member of the California State University, Chico Formula SAE team, where we design, manufacture, test, and compete with a student-built formula-style race car. Serving as the Powertrain Lead Officer has given me the opportunity to transform classroom knowledge into real engineering solutions by designing performance-critical components, validating them through simulation and testing, and seeing those designs perform on the track.

My long-term goal is to become a motorsports engineer, contributing to the design and development of high-performance race cars. I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering through innovative design, advanced manufacturing, and data-driven engineering. Every project I undertake brings me one step closer to achieving my dream of working with a professional racing team and helping shape the next generation of race car technology.
